10 Habits of Healthy People

Oh to be healthy.

While we all strive to be healthy, getting into a healthy groove can prove to be challenging. People are busy and it’s hard to adapt habits that accommodate a healthy lifestyle, especially when we are always on the go.

It can also be especially frustrating to know where to start when it comes to being healthy. Do you diet? Do you exercise more? Do you need to meditate?

Have no fear, Elite is here. With 10 habits of healthy people.

1. Learn to Enjoy Exercising

We all know that it can be a pain to get to the gym, but it doesn’t have to be. Come up with a workout plan that isn’t just challenging but also fun. If you have trouble thinking of a fun workout ask a trainer, or look for one online. Fitness doesn’t just have to be about getting in shape, it should be fun too!

2. Drink Lots of Water

Ditch your soda for a water. Keeping your body hydrated is key when it comes to staying healthy. Drinking water can help keep your skin bright, lower your appetite if you drink a glass of water before a meal, and is proven to keep people in a better mood compared to soda or sugary juice.

3. Address Addictive Behaviors

Try and curb that urge to have that Snickers bar at 3 o’clock or that Coke right before you go to bed. Everyone has their guilty pleasures, but in order to make a switch to a healthy lifestyle you need to be able to admit which behaviors are poor or addictive.

4. Eat Healthy Snacks

Replace your chips or candy with fruit or vegetables. The switch from an unhealthy snack to a healthy snack can go a long way when it comes to your health. Weight loss, more energy, those are just a couple of the benefits a good snack can give you.

But with that being said…

5. Do Eat What You Want

It’s ok to have a cheat day! Healthy people do still eat what they love, they just do so in moderation. Every now and then you can have that Snickers bar at 3am or a Coke before bed. Just not everyday.

Also on the topic of food…

6. Make Sure You’re Eating Enough

It’s important to fuel your body. Not eating enough can have serious adverse effects on your health. Everyone needs at the very, very least 1,500 calories a day. When you deprive your body of nutrients you lose muscle, you lose focus, and it just leads to possibly binge eating later on.

7. Get Plenty of Sleep

Humans need to sleep. When we sleep our body rebuilds itself and processes lots of information. Not getting enough sleep can really harm a person, especially when it impairs your ability to focus. So make sure you are getting around 7 hours of sleep on average a night.

8. Surround Yourself With Positive People

This is an important one. Encouragement is key when making a lifestyle choice. Hang around with the friends who support your goals, maybe even make some new friends along the way!

9. Laugh

Laughing everyday is good for all kinds of health. Your body, your mind, everything. Taking the time to giggle and have some goof off time makes all of the habits on this list that much easier to get to. When you enjoy what you do, it turns things into a habit instead of a chore.

10. DON’T MAKE EXCUSES

Holding yourself accountable is by far the most important thing on this list. In the long run, it comes down to you to make these changes. Don’t put your health on the back burner, rise up to the occasion and try to implement one of these at a time.
