Children are easily influenced at a young age, so it’s important to instill healthy habits during the early stages in their lives. One of the best ways to teach them healthy habits is by exercising together as a family. Here’s how you can create healthy habits by exercising with your kids.
Be a Role Model
Lead by example for your children. By choosing a healthy lifestyle for yourself, your kids will observe and imitate that behavior. Just by having a regular exercise schedule will show how important exercising is to you. Take it a step further and bring them along to the club with you. You can start out slowly, but do it on a regular basis. Consistency is the key to building a habit.
Do Exercises Together
Exercise comes in many forms. Simply being active as a family counts as exercise. Exercises could range from playing basketball or tennis, going for a walk, spending time in the fitness center together, or doing exercise classes tailored for parents and kids – like Family Bootcamp or Family Yoga. Choose any activity that gets your family moving, especially something that your kids will actively participate in and enjoy. That might mean trying a variety of things to see what sticks. We have a whole variety of programs for your family to try on the all-inclusive Monthly Family Calendar! The calendar will constantly evolve, so check back frequently to see what’s new.
Early Fitness Education
Your older kids might want to join you in weight lifting or running on the treadmill. In order for junior members to use our fitness center, they must first complete our Teen Nutrition & Training program, which is taught by our personal trainers. This program teaches children ages 10-14 how to safely and properly use all the equipment in the fitness center. This includes free weights, cardio machines, medicine balls, bands, etc. In addition, they’ll learn about establishing exercise routines and the basics of healthy eating.
As a family club, Elite Sports Clubs strives to provide your family with the means of staying healthy together. Exercising with your kids will build a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
