Believe in Yourself and Success Will Follow

Believe in Yourself and Success Will Follow

Happy New Year everyone! Let’s revisit New Year’s resolutions – maybe you’re into them, maybe you’re not. Either way, if you really “unpack” resolutions, it’s a chance to commit yourself to a goal. I’m not here to tell you that resolutions are great/bad for you. That’s for you to decide. I’m here to talk about the power behind your plans and if you believe in yourself, you’ll have a greater chance of successfully accomplishing your goals.

If you were to look into my resolution for the year, you’d see this:

Seriously, I would do anything to pet the dogs!

Believe in Yourself

So what’s the deal with New Year’s resolutions? Why do we set ourselves up and then become disappointed when we’re not where we thought we would be?

The thing here is that sometimes people just aren’t goal-oriented or what we like to call ‘intrinsically motivated.’ But nevertheless, no matter what the goal is, a lack of belief in yourself will limit you no matter how great the ideas or opportunities are that you are exposed to.

Determination is Key

The biggest difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful ones have the determination to make any situation work for them rather than making excuses for why it won’t work. No matter the circumstances, successful people don’t give up. They pour 100% of their effort in order to make sure they get it done. This isn’t just true in fitness, but can be applied in all aspects of life. Consider Thomas Edison, who is famously known for saying “I have not failed 10,000 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”

Of course, not every idea or every situation will be successful. However, many CAN work if you believe you have the power to make them work. Dig deep within yourself to either find the motivation, the right ideas, or be willing to try something new in order to achieve success. The solutions are there. You just have to go find them and believe in yourself.

Quotes to Inspire

James Clear says it best:

“We all deal with vulnerability, uncertainty, and failure. Some of us trust that if we move forward anyway, then we will figure it out.”

He goes on to say, “We believe that it is possible for human beings to improve. We believe that it is possible to raise the bar in your own life even if the world around you accepts average. We believe in ourselves and in each other. We believe that if you want better health or more happiness or a more meaningful job that you can make those things happen.

And because of this belief we are willing to test, experiment, and try new things even when we feel uncertain. If you don’t believe that it’s possible to make new things work, then it’s hard to make any progress. I don’t care how good the ideas are, nothing will work for you if you don’t believe in it.

“And more importantly, nothing will work if you don’t believe in yourself.”
