Meet Grace Selwitschka

  1. What classes do you currently teach?

I currently teach Les Mills BodyPump, Cycling, Barre, TRX, and Heavy Bag Boxing.

  1. How long have you been teaching group exercise?

Over 20 years

  1. What made you want to start teaching group exercise?

I’ve always have a passion for fitness and travel. I decided to become a fitness professional to be able to teach a diverse group of people with the same fitness goals and to be able to travel the world at the same time. I was fortunate to be able to teach internationally – in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

  1. What is your favorite part about teaching your class(es)?

It is fun being able to share a workout I am passionate about with others. Teaching classes also brings me back to my dance days.

  1. What is your favorite song or style of music to teach to?

I like a variety of genres, depending on the workout or the class I’m teaching. That ranges from 90’s favorites to modern hits.

  1. What is your favorite exercise to do in your class?

I like anything power and strength. Intensity is the word!

  1. How do you stay active outside of your own classes?

I enjoy outdoor activities in the spring, summer, and fall. I also do my own workouts on a regular basis.

  1. What else do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy interior decorating, gourmet cooking, getting pampered in a spa, and spending quality time with my family.

  1. What advice do you give people who are coming into your classes for the first time?

No need to be nervous when taking your first group exercise class. We, instructors, are all there to help you have a great workout, and want to keep you coming back for more. Before and after class is the best time to get more individual attention. Avoid injury and burnout by progressing slowly. Try not to take on more than you can handle and take a break when you need to, breathe, and stay hydrated.

  1. What personal advice do you give someone who is looking to get to a healthier point in their life?

Love your life! Make fitness a habit, eat healthy, get a good night’s sleep, smile, love others, and always look on the bright side of life.
