Meet Josh Zaborski
- What position(s) do you currently hold at Elite and any you have held in the past?
I am a tennis pro at Elite-River Glen.
- How long have you been playing tennis?
I’ve been playing tennis since 2016. I started working at Elite in June 2026.
My biggest tennis accomplishment was a doubles match against Cornell. My partner, Hayden, and I were down 2–7 and facing match point, but we stayed positive and focused on one point at a time. We won five straight games to force a tiebreak and then completed the comeback by winning 8–7. That match stands out to me because it showed the importance of resilience, teamwork, and believing you can come back no matter the score.

- What made you want to become a tennis pro?
Tennis has given me so many opportunities throughout my life, from competing in college to meeting great people and developing confidence. Becoming a tennis professional allows me to give back to the sport by helping others improve, enjoy the game, and reach their own goals. I love seeing players gain confidence and have fun while learning.
- What is your favorite part about your job? About tennis in general?
My favorite thing about tennis is playing doubles with friends and working together to win. I also enjoy the mental side of singles, where every point feels like a chess match and you have to constantly adjust your strategy.
- What activities do you participate in at the club or outside of the club besides tennis?
At the River Glen facility, I enjoy getting shots up on the basketball court, getting a workout in the gym, and relaxing poolside. Outside of the club, I enjoy golfing, going on long bike rides, and going to the beach.
- How would you encourage someone who is considering tennis for the first time?
Focusing on small successes rather than perfection. Tennis can seem challenging at first, so I would create a positive environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. As someone preparing to become a teacher, I believe confidence is built through encouragement and achievable goals. By celebrating improvement and helping players see their progress, I can help them develop both their skills and a love for the game.
- What advice do you give people who are just starting out in tennis?
My advice for new players is to be patient, have fun, and focus on improving a little each time you play. Everyone starts somewhere, and confidence comes with practice.
