There are lots of new products available for us to try! Many are in response to individuals needs to have lower salt and lower fat varieties of everyday potato chips. But now we have gone way beyond this to new ingredients and tastes of the “ancient” grains, such as quinoa. Here are just a few!

HUMMUS CHIPS – MADE WITH SEA SALT

They are absolutely delicious and are made with all natural chick peas. These are the main ingredients found in hummus and baked into an all natural bite-size chip. Chick peas were cultivated over 7500 years ago in the Middle East and contain a large amount of protein, fiber, and many important minerals. One serving size is 30 chips and is 130 calories. They are very tasty and go well with all appetizer type menus. These chips are also low in sodium and low in fat. Look for them in specialty food aisles.

SWEET GRAIN SPROUTED QUINOA BREAD

It’s a good-tasting bread made from sprouted grains which are sprouted or grown much like a vegetable, and are then made into flour. The quinoa flour mixture is a very simple flour product and is much easier for people wishing to reduce the amount of carbohydrates they eat in a day. The actual make-up of the flour is five sweet grains: oats, sunflower seeds, millet, flax seed and a little cracked wheat as a binder. This product is very wholesome and is rich in protein and fiber, and with the sprouting process the product is much easier to absorb and digest.
