Get to Know Jakob Burns

  1. What position(s) do you currently hold at Elite and any you have held in the past?

I’m currently a membership services representative at Elite Sports Club-Mequon and River Glen.

  1. How long have you been working in the health/fitness/tennis industry and how long have you worked at Elite?

I started working in the industry in 2020 and joined Elite in 2025.

  1. What made you want to start working in this industry and/or for Elite?

My enjoyment of connecting with a community, engaging and creating lasting relationships with members. I really enjoy the culture and message Elite stands for!

  1. What is your favorite part about your job?

Meeting members and having thoughtful and understanding conversations about their experiences with Elite and my love for helping fulfill leadership roles on guiding and creating fun ways for our members and team to be a part of!

  1. What activities do you participate in at the club or outside of the club that are health/fitness/tennis related?

I really find myself enjoying the fitness center and swimming pool. I currently play rec adult baseball and bowling leagues and really have picked up golfing as my favorite sports growing up and continue to expand my hobbies and interest!

  1. What has been your biggest personal struggle with health/fitness/tennis?

A big struggle was consistence for me at one point holding myself accountable for staying fit and with sports outside of work. I have been able to mold and work on a schedule now that works great for me now!

  1. What has been your biggest personal accomplishment with health/fitness/tennis?

A big accomplishment was getting into college baseball for two years. Working hard and determination to achieve my goal helped push me for who I am today for taking on challenges!

  1. What advice do you give people who are coming to the club for the first time?

My biggest advice would be to explore and try out all that we offer from classes to lessons. Even if you have not tried or done it before, you may find yourself to create a new connection with an activity or hobby!

  1. What advice do you give people who are struggling to make health/fitness/tennis a priority or are getting bored/burned out?

Organization and balancing a healthy life and work balance. Time management is key to success in health/fitness/sports. Pushing yourself to be creative in your fitness and health goals can open new paths and opportunities to help balance your style.

  1. What personal advice do you give someone who is looking to get to a healthier point in their life in general?

I believe in starting in a direction, not perfection, tracking progress, and knowing everything is not going to come naturally. Build that foundation, set good habits, and avoid the bad habits day to day. Create a good environment around you and others involved, and check in with yourself mentally and physically as this plays a big part on motivating factors.
