Taking care of your health should be a priority, but many people use the excuse that they don’t have time to exercise. It is recommended you only need 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily, and exercise comes in many different forms. Here are some ways you can make time for fitness.
Do a Time Audit
Are you wasting time in your day? A time audit is simply keeping track of what you do throughout the day so you can analyze how you are spending your time. A time audit should be done ideally over the course of a week to see how each day shapes up. You could even record everything over the course of the month to get a better sense of the big picture and see if things are consistent.
After you are done recording, you can analyze how you are actually spending your time versus how you want to be spending your time. Are there more efficient ways to complete tasks? Are there activities you can omit from your daily schedule or delegate to someone else? Can the kids help with chores around the house? The time audit should help you make better use of your time so you can fit exercise in throughout the week.
Write Workouts in Your Calendar
If you are one who strictly adheres to a calendar/schedule, write your workouts in as if they were an appointment. You’ll be more likely to stick to your routine if you plan ahead of time. By doing so, you’ll be “making time” for fitness, rather than “finding time.”
HIIT Workouts
High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, is a very efficient method of exercise. These types of workouts are packed into a shorter amount of time, but you’ll be working harder in short bursts of intensity. It’s a great way to burn lots of calories and shred fat when you don’t have as much time to dedicate to a longer workout.
Work Out at Home
Don’t have time to drive to the gym? Working out at home or outdoors is a perfectly viable option. You might not have access to all the equipment you would find at the club, but you can do bodyweight exercises or use household items like soup cans as weights. Have a dog? They like activity, too! Take a quick walk/jog around the neighborhood with your furry friend, thus allowing both of you to get some exercise.
You can still participate in your favorite group exercise classes at home, too! Elite Sports Clubs has virtual classes available through our Virtual Studio. Sign up to get access to all your favorite group exercise classes taught by our certified instructors.
