Have you ever wished there was someone else that could tell you what to include in your fitness routine, how to exercise, or even what to eat in order to get leaner, fitter, and stronger? Well good news, we know of just the people that can help! They’re called personal trainers, and we have a whole team of experienced, knowledgeable, and certified personal trainers in Milwaukee at Elite Sports Clubs!
Step 1: Establish Your Goals
Fitness goals take many forms, such as “building muscle,” “losing weight,” or “get back into shape.” While we’ve written at length about how these goals are probably too generic to measure your progress, a personal trainer is there to help you figure out exactly what it is that you’re after.
You’ll first meet with them during a free consultation where you’ll discuss your goals, schedule, health conditions, etc. to help them better understand the endgame and the best course of action to achieve it. Taking our example above, you might want to lose weight. They’ll establish a timeline, how much weight is healthy and achievable, and then they can build an exercise/nutrition plan around the goal.
This meeting also provides an opportunity for both parties to ask questions. Just like each client is unique, so are the personal trainers in Milwaukee. Each trainer specializes in different areas, so you’ll want to make sure they are a good fit for you. The trainer may ask you questions about your habits and lifestyle.
Step 2: Fitness Assessment
In order figure how to get where you want to be, you’ll need to figure out where you’re starting out. You will undergo a fitness assessment with your trainer so they can assess your current fitness level. This involves a series of tests called a Functional Movement Screen. Essentially, these tests are taking an inventory of what you have physically to start your journey. This relates to flexibility, mobility, balance, strength, cardio endurance, and more.
Step 3: Equipment Orientation
If you’re just starting your fitness journey, or you’re a new member at Elite, you’re probably not too familiar with all of the equipment in the fitness center. Your personal trainer will walk you through each piece of equipment and demonstrate how to use them safely and efficiently.
Step 4: Develop a Plan & Schedule
Your trainer will do the legwork in determining the best way to achieve your goals. Based on your available schedule, they’ll set up times when you can come in to train with them on a regular basis.
Step 5: Training!
You’ll meet with your trainer for your agreed upon schedule and frequency. They’ll guide you through your workouts, being there for you every step of the way. They’ll hold you accountable to show up in the first place, provide motivation, ensure exercise safety, and correct your form if necessary. Your trainer will help you track your progress and make sure you hit all the checkpoints on the way to your final goal.
