Setting and achieving personal goals can be a daunting process. One of the most difficult steps is making a decision of what it actually is that we would like to achieve. We may also battle our ability to commit and follow through with appropriate actions. I put together a few short videos that might help you to determine, formulate and achieve some of your goals; but to start I think it’s important to go over a few reasons why we may initially struggle with our decisions and goals.
Realize it Takes Time
Achieving a goal means making a change to your current routine. Therefore we will need to change our habits and behaviors. The average adult takes 66 days for a new habit to become a behavior. That’s nine weeks! In today’s world, we become accustomed to instant gratification, making this a greater struggle. If you don’t see immediate results, don’t let yourself become discouraged; this is normal!
Unknown Intentions
What is your real motivation for change? Are you following trends, or is this a change you deep down need to make? It’s also important to know if your intentions are realistic. Regardless of the process, if you are not true to your intentions you will lose sight of why you began this challenge in the first place.
Self-Doubt
It is very natural for people to doubt their own abilities. People have a tendency to compare themselves to others. If this happens, you can expect some self-destructive thoughts to take effect. Only you can make a difference in your life.
Losing Track of Priorities
Declaring your intentions and commitments will help to make them your top priorities. Once you’re able to acknowledge your decision, you will be able to hold yourself accountable and continuously take appropriate action.
This video shows you three simple steps that you can use as a beginners guide, for making decisions to change or achieve what you want in life. Are you happy with where you are right now, or are there areas that you would like to change? I am hoping this video will help you get back on track!
Next week, I will show you the first 3 of a 6-step action plan for making your decision a success. It’s the first 3 of the “6 P’s!”
