In most things we learn, we often hear experts saying that you have to start from the beginning by learning the fundamentals. Exercise is no exception. Learning functional movements will have you using multiple muscles with each move and will minimize your risk of injury as you train. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a beginner, or an older adult, you will reap the benefits of taking exercise back to the basics with functional movement training. Functional movement focuses on training movement patterns, rather than isolating individual muscles. Below are some of the many benefits of this type of training. (more…)

Not all exercises are created equal. Some exercises isolate single muscles, while others work the entire body. If the thought of burning more calories in less time appeals to you, then you’re going to love full-body exercises. The best part is that you can do many full-body exercises just about anywhere. If you’re traveling or constantly on-the-go, you’ll be able to do these seven moves with just yourself, a little space, and maybe a chair, a step, or a park bench to help.
Music and fitness go together like peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk, or whichever other analogy you prefer. But why is music empowering and why does it make us keep moving? It is an empowering medium which can evoke a set of emotions unlike anything else — the rush of endorphins penetrating your central nervous system, giving you that “runner’s high”. Analogously, the release of dopamine when listening to music you like. These situations motivate us to power through our workout routines. Having trouble finding motivating music? Here are thirty songs to get you moving and motivated this summer.
