Elite Sports Clubs Acquired by Peter Goldman of Lakeshore Sport & Fitness

November 21, 2019 – It was announced today that Elite Sports Clubs, with five locations in the greater Milwaukee area, is changing ownership. Elite Sports Clubs has been acquired by a group led by Peter Goldman, which currently owns Lakeshore Sport & Fitness, with two locations in Chicago, IL.

Elite Sports Clubs was previously owned for over 30 years by Kay Yuspeh, who transformed the clubs and industry during her career. “I was given the chance to promote a healthy lifestyle to families through tennis and fitness for over three decades, and I am confident Peter will carry on the legacy we have created here at Elite and provide the best in family fitness to the community,” said Kay Yuspeh. The Elite Sports Clubs name and staff will not change and the club will continue to be run as a separate business entity.

“With our shared emphasis on fitness, family, and fun – the transition will be seamless. I am excited to bring our team environment to Elite Sports Clubs. We are also exploring some improvements to the club, particularly tennis court lighting, heating, and air conditioning, and also developing a Quad-like amenity at the current Brookfield location. I look forward to hearing from the current members and staff to establish other areas in which to invest, to keep Elite on the cutting edge,” stated Peter Goldman. “I also want to thank Kay Yuspeh for all she has done in the community, the industry, and here at Elite Sports Clubs. I look forward to learning from her and her team at Elite, and continuing her dedication to the greater Milwaukee area,” Goldman continued.

This acquisition of Elite Sports Clubs is Peter Goldman’s first purchase of fitness clubs in Wisconsin.

A message to the Elite members from former owner, Kay Yuspeh

Dear Elite Sports Clubs Members:

Many of you have been a member of Elite Sports Clubs since I first took over as owner of the Brookfield location, over 30 years ago. Along the way, many of you have become good friends of mine. We grew – adding four more clubs and amenities, but one thing remained constant – the dedication to our membership and community. You and the staff truly became an extension of my family and that’s why I am writing this letter, as I wanted you to hear this from me. I have decided to sell Elite Sports Clubs to a group led by Peter Goldman, who currently owns two Lakeshore Sport & Fitness clubs in Chicago – visit – http://www.lakeshoresf.com/ for an overview of the clubs which feature indoor/outdoor fitness, pools, rooftop restaurants, tennis, and more.

I am both excited and sentimental about the sale. I have been contemplating this decision and my legacy for years. When I met Peter and his team, I knew that his philosophy and business operation would be a great fit for Elite Sports Clubs moving forward. In fact, Peter reminds me of myself when I started – he was a member of his current club before becoming an owner. Both clubs were failing when he and his team took over, and now they are known as the #1 destination for fitness, family, and fun in Chicago.

Peter has also been exploring some improvements to the Elite clubs, particularly tennis court lighting, heating, and air conditioning, in addition to developing a QUAD-like amenity at the Brookfield location. Similar to what he does at his clubs in Chicago, Peter is looking forward to hearing feedback from staff and current members as he looks to establish other areas in which to invest, to keep Elite Sports Clubs on the cutting edge. Feel free to reach out to him at [email protected] to share your thoughts or suggestions.

I will be staying on in an advisory and programming role and will help with the transition, as a show of respect for the brand we have built together. The Elite Sports Clubs name will not change. In addition, the staff will remain, as will your current membership structure.

As I reflect on my ownership, I am most proud of what we have accomplished together – offering the best in family fitness and tennis – a place where everyone belongs.

Thank you – I am confident that the legacy we created over three decades ago will continue and flourish under Peter’s leadership.

In good health,

Kay Yuspeh
