Even if you’re a group ex regular, we’ve selected these 4 classes that might add some variety to your exercise routine.

Try Something New!

Whether it’s boredom, hitting a fitness plateau, or you’re just looking to make your workouts more efficient by varying your routine, there are plenty of reasons to try a new group exercise class. Not to mention, the social component will allow you to make new friends and feel a part of the member community. Here are some of our top class recommendations, all of which are complimentary with your membership at Elite Sports Clubs.

CS60

CS60 stands for “Cardio and Strength for 60 minutes.” The class is divided into 2 portions: the “Cardio” portion is 30 minutes (about 8-9 songs) with the back half of the 30 minutes making up the “Strength” portion and is not choreographed to the music. Though the class is divided into 2 portions, it is a full hour with both the “Cardio and Strength” working together to make up the ultimate workout experience.

The cardio half of class is composed of choreographed moves utilizing the Reebok Core Board. The moves include mountain climbers, squats, plank jacks, pushups, soccer shuffle, jumping jacks, and many more. It’s extremely fun, very high-energy, and a great cardio workout.

During the strength portion of class, we use multiple weights of dumbbells to do different types of strength training. Some moves include biceps curls, overhead presses, lunges, deadlifts, plank and core exercises, and many more. Bands and sliders are sometimes incorporated to give different types movements. The Reebok Core board is also used during the strength portion for different types of balance exercises or as a riser for maximizing the range of motion.

CS60 a very high-energy class. Movements are quick and high-impact creating elevated heart rates and sweat! It’s challenging and members are always encouraged to push themselves every week for maximum results. However, modifications are always available when needed.

A lot of time, energy, and creativity go into each routine so it’s unlike any other class. Significant thought is put into each song, where (and if) it “fits” in the lineup, and what movement works best for the beat. We always ensure there’s a balance between familiarity of the routine as to not make the learning curve too high, but also that the routines stay new and fresh to keep the class interesting.

Les Mills BodyPump

Les Mills BodyPump is one of the most popular classes at Elite Sports Clubs. BodyPump is a full-body workout. The class will take you through a series of tracks, or songs that are coordinated with specific types of exercises that target various muscle groups. For example, there is a triceps track where you lift weights to the rhythm of a chosen song.

One of the great things about BodyPump is that Les Mills releases updated tracks seasonally, making the class feel a little bit different as the year goes on.

Les Mills is well-known around the world for developing challenging, but effective group exercise classes. Elite Sports Clubs offers plenty of other Les Mills classes, including BodyAttack, TONE, and CXWORX.

Yoga & Pilates

We could go on at length as to why yoga classes are perfect during the wintertime. Yoga, in general, offers so much variety that there’s a practice for any age and ability level. Despite being great for your body, it’s also great for your mind, especially during the holidays.

Elite Sports Clubs offers a wide variety of yoga classes, each offering a unique experience. We have introductory classes for beginners that teach the basics of yoga, intense workout yoga classes such as Hot Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga, and we have calming/relaxing yoga classes like Gentle Yoga. In any case, yoga is great for stretching, flexibility, and spirituality.

Pilates classes are similar to yoga, but they put greater emphasis on muscle control. Whether it’s mat or reformer Pilates, you work on controlling your muscles against the forces of gravity or the springs of the apparatus, respectively. The center of the body is the focal point for all Pilates movements (the abdomen, lower and upper back, hips, buttocks, and inner thighs). If you are after a leaner and more fit body, Pilates is a great option.

H2O Blast

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. We host a number of aquatics exercise classes in our indoor saltwater pools. Our most popular class is called H2O Blast. Appropriately named, this water aerobics class is a blast!

This joint-friendly, chest-deep water workout includes calisthenics-style exercises with upper and lower body variations. March, jog, and ski against water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscle endurance, and flexibility. Buoyant dumbbells and other buoyancy tools are used to add both resistance and stability in the water.

Don’t think that water aerobics is just for seniors. We’ve had newcomers of a much younger age take the class and tell us how much of a challenge the class is. It’s popular amongst our older members because of how easy it is on the joints, but still a worthwhile class no matter your age.

You can learn more about our other aquatics exercise classes here.

You can’t go wrong with any of the classes offered at Elite Sports Clubs. We’d love to hear which classes are your favorites, or the ones you are excited to try!
